How we support medical tourism at AJ Plastic Surgery Centre; from consultation to flight

Choosing to travel abroad for plastic surgery is a major decision. Medical tourism would involve more than the surgery itself. It’s about trust, timing, coordination, and care. At AJ Plastic Surgery Centre, we’ve designed a system that offers complete support for medical tourism in Kenya.

Whether you’re visiting from the UK, UAE, Rwanda, or the US, our goal is to ensure your journey is comfortable, informed, and safe from start to finish.

Initial virtual consultation

Your medical tourism journey with us begins long before you board a plane. Once you reach out, we schedule a private virtual consultation. This is where we take time to understand your goals, review your medical history, assess your candidacy for surgery, and explain what procedures we offer. You’ll speak directly with one of our board-certified surgeons and have all your questions answered.

Pre-travel coordination and preparation

Once you’re ready to move forward, our international patient coordinator steps in. We guide you through procedure selection, estimated costs, payment options, and the type of pre-travel lab tests you need to do from your home country. We also help with scheduling your surgery based on your travel plans and issue documentation to support visa processing and insurance communication.

To understand how this phase works in more detail, refer to our article “Medical tourism for plastic surgery: what international patients need to know before choosing Kenya.”

Booking assistance and travel logistics

If this is your first time travelling for surgery, or if you prefer everything handled for you, we offer logistics support.

This includes hotel recommendations close to our clinic, coordination of airport transfers with trusted drivers, and help with translation where needed. We also send you a packing checklist that’s specific to your recovery and procedure type.

Arrival and in-person consultation

On arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be met by our designated driver or coordinator. Your in-person consultation is usually held within 24 hours. This involves a detailed physical evaluation, surgical planning, photography, consent documentation, and lab result reviews.

We create a respectful, relaxed setting for this step, allowing you to feel fully supported and confident before surgery.

The procedure

Your surgery will be performed at our accredited operating suite using modern equipment and techniques. Whether you’re scheduled for a tummy tuck, breast procedure, liposuction or eyelid surgery, we follow internationally recognised sterilisation and safety protocols. An anaesthetist and post-operative nurse are present to ensure your comfort and safety throughout.

You can explore procedure-specific content in “Travelling for a tummy tuck in Kenya? Here’s what to expect from arrival to recovery” and “Eyelid surgery for a youthful look: is it right for you?”

Post-operative care and recovery support

After your surgery, we manage your care closely. This includes daily or alternate-day appointments, dressing changes, medication guidance, compression garments, and recovery instructions. For patients who stay in recovery residences or nearby hotels, we coordinate with the nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.

We also check on things that make a difference: meal needs, mobility comfort, and emotional reassurance.

Preparing for your return flight

Once you are cleared to travel, we support your transition home.

This includes wound care planning, digital records, fit-to-fly certification if required, and tips for air travel such as hydration and managing swelling.

If you need stitches removed after return, we guide you or coordinate with your local physician.

Ongoing support after departure

You won’t be left to figure it out alone. Our team remains available via WhatsApp or video call for virtual reviews, scar care advice, and any questions during your healing journey.

Why international patients trust AJ Plastic Surgery Centre

Our patients choose us for more than the procedure. They choose us for how we walk with them. We offer transparent, honest communication, clean, modern facilities, internationally trained surgeons, and complete respect for privacy and discretion

In the words of one recent patient: “I was nervous coming from the UK for a tummy tuck, but I never felt alone. From airport pickup to the final stitch, I was in the right hands.”
