Frequently asked questions
About 40% of our patients come from out of Nairobi. If you need more information on how to be an Out-of-Town patient, please place a booking with us.
The process is very simple and one of AJ Plastic Surgery Centre surgical consultants can assist you with all your needs.
Every patient’s anatomy is different and the complexity of each surgery varies from patient to patient as well as total OR time.
We are able to give you a general range for each procedure over the phone, but at the end of your consultation with AJ Plastic Surgery Centre surgical consultants, you will be given the exact price for your surgery.
Yes. Because we perform the virtual consultations and there are limited consultation spots available a week, the consultation fee does not go towards the surgical procedure.
The virtual consultation is probably one of the most important steps in the entire process. During that visit, our surgical consultants take the time to understand specifically what your concerns are and what you are hoping to achieve with surgery.
We will also perform a detailed history and physical exam and review with you a customized surgical plan from AJ Plastic Surgery Center. We will describe the procedures with you in detail and answer all your questions.
You would want your weight to be stable or to be close to goal weight prior to having a tummy tuck– this is usually at least 4-6 months after delivery.
However, at AJ Plastic Surgery Centre, we do book surgeries about 6-9 months in advance so we could start with a consultation a few months after you deliver or when you are about 5 kgs within your goal weight.
Also, if you are currently breastfeeding and would like to consult about a breast procedure, you will need to wait until your breast milk has dried up and you have not seen any visible changes in the shape of your breasts.
Patient safety is always the top priority, and it is recommended that your BMI be close to 30 to have surgery.
However, there are some exceptions that can be made based on patient anatomy and overall health. Our surgeons here at AJ Plastic Surgery Centre will discuss this during your in-person or virtual consultation.
Medical insurance does not cover surgery procedures but it may cover some other allied procedures. We will advise on the financing options available for the procedure.
